The hood shape is all-new in the E1 generation, redesigned based on four-plus years of rider feedback into a form that fits a wider range of hand sizes comfortably from both the hoods and the drops. One-finger braking is now achievable from either position without repositioning your hand, and the textured surface around the AXS shift buttons and Bonus Buttons makes it easy to find and actuate controls without looking down. Stiffer calipers improve brake feel and modulation, and the redesigned lever pivot geometry eliminates the finger pinch that affected some riders under hard braking on the previous generation.
The right lever manages rear shifting and rear braking, and pairs wirelessly with the Force AXS rear derailleur as well as any other AXS component in the road ecosystem. The hydraulic system uses DOT fluid with flat-mount caliper compatibility, keeping hose routing and brake setup consistent with current frame standards.
